It’s no secret that I am a big fan of children’s books. My daughter has so many books and we love nothing better than reading together. So when I was asked if we would like to take a look at Once Upon a Time: A Timeless Collection of Fairy Tales I said “Yes Please!” and I have to say I fell in love with the book as soon as it arrived.
There is nothing more exciting in our house than when a new book comes out, especially when it’s one by your favourite author. And I can safely say that Julia Donaldson is my daughter’s favourite author. So when I heard about The Ugly Five I just knew we had to add it to our collection.
There is something wonderful about finding a new author that you love, isn’t there? But there is also something even better than that… finding a new author that you love AND finding out that they have written lots and lots of lovely books! It wasn’t that long ago that my daughter and I discovered Oi Frog and we just love it and the other books in the series, which I will be reviewing as soon as I get a moment.
We have a few books that are regular bedtime stories for Boo, and Guess How Much I Love You is definitely one of those. Boo has had the board book version for a while now. But when I was asked if we would like to take a look at the pearlescent hardcover edition, and the colouring book I just knew that Boo would love them.
It’s really important to my husband and I that Boo grows up being able to speak different languages. After all she has family in lots of different countries. My husband is half Danish and half Dutch and so he has family in Denmark and Holland. So, obviously, Danish and Dutch are two languages we really want Boo to be able to speak. My husband often speaks Danish to Boo, though at the minute she prefers to answer in English. It is amazing what she can understand though. And she will tell her daddy, (and sometimes me), that she loves us in Danish which is very cute!
