Living Arrows

This week’s Living Arrows is a little different from the photo of Boo playing on the beach I shared for last week. I’ve been struggling with both, another bad cold, and a flare up (probably the result of trying to do too much whilst we were away – I will never learn!).  We’ve been stuck in a little more than I would like but some weeks it can’t be helped. Though Boo went to nursery four days this week and over the weekend she went both ice skating and swimming with her daddy so really I am the only one who has been stuck inside!

We’ve been playing with trains and done an incredible amount of jigsaws this week. Boo has also had a comic – this time it was a CBeebies – Nina and the Neurons one. She had so much fun putting on the goggles and playing with the slinky, as well as doing all those stickers. I think stickers must be her favourite thing to do right now.

We were so lucky with the weather for two of the three days we were at Bluestone in Pembrokeshire, Wales last week. We made the most of it and managed to visit three beaches in two days. It was great to spend so much time at the beach. We live so far away from the coast that it’s difficult for us to visit as much as we would like.

Both my husband and I would both love to live nearer to the sea. For now we are going to have to make do with visiting as much as we can. I took so many photos whilst we were at the beaches.  It was really difficult to decide which one I should use for Living Arrows this week (there was no doubt in my mind that it had to be a photo of Boo on the beach.) After ages spent looking at them all I decided to go with this one, from the beach at Tenby.

It was the last beach that we visited and Boo was using her spade to draw in the sand. I think for me it sums up the fun that we had at the beach and how lucky we were with the weather, the sky was clear and bright blue. I really hope that we can get to the beach a few more times this year.

Boo has loved ice skating ever since her very first time when we visited Lapland UK in November of last year. Now Boo and her daddy go each week to our local ice rink on a Saturday morning to skate for an hour. Boo has an amazing time and is always talking about skating and how much fun she has.

So my husband and I decided that it would be a great idea for us to use some of the money Boo was given for her birthday by relatives to buy a pair of her very own ice skates. I was so happy when I found these ones, they are adjustable by 4 sizes (so they should last more than five minutes) and there are flashing lights in the heels too. What more could we ask for?!

As you can see from the photos (I couldn’t bring myself to just share one this week as I loved them all) she is incredibly happy with her new skates and she couldn’t wait to get out on the ice!

She had a great time skating round on her new skates, she looks so tiny and so grown up all at the same time out there on the ice with her flashing new skates!

Boo was very happy when we woke up to snow on Friday morning. It was only a tiny layer on the garden but it was enough for us to have a snowball fight and build a very cute, and very tiny snowman.

Boo insisted that we place the snowman on the top of her sand/water table, I thought it was very lovely that she wanted him up there, with a lovely view over the rest of the garden. The fact that she then aimed all of her subsequent snowballs at the mini snowman probably indicates that she wanted him up there to make him a better target!

She had a great time out in the garden, proving that even the smallest dusting of snow can provide endless fun for a toddler. We stopped short of making snow angels, by the time Boo suggested them our garden looked more mud than snow so we decided to head inside for a hot chocolate.

So here is our mini snowman/target for snowballs. I love this photo it’s a wonderful memory of a very happy morning spent in the garden playing in the snow.

It felt like the holidays went to fast and now January is too – but what I also see is how fast Boo is growing up. Sometimes she looks so grown up I wonder where my little baby has gone! Even going out for a short walk, in the rain, I notice changes in her. I love this photo, it was taken on a walk round near where we live and Boo wanted to use her new Gruffalo Umbrella, which she got for Christmas.

And she just looks so big, holding the umbrella (which she actually used properly and not was a weapon as I feared she might). Boo’s is fiercely independent and doesn’t want help with anything. She wanted to hold the umbrella herself, and she wanted to put it up and take it down all by herself. This is another sign that she is growing up (too fast!) and I really need to make the most of all the time we have!

She really does remind me of the line from Shakespeare “Though she be but little, she is fierce!” I hope that my little Boo stays as independent, confident and curious as she is now.
