I have written in the past about our adventures at Bluestone, Wales, we always have a wonderful time and we have been really lucky with the weather during our stays too. So, as you can imagine, when Bluestone asked if we would like to spend a mid-week break there at the end of November I said yes please!

Winter in Bluestone, Wales

We set off on Monday morning and headed on the roughly 4 hour drive to Pembrokeshire. We could check in from 3pm which was great as it meant we could get to our lodge and get settled and unpacked before it was time for tea. We stayed in a Ramsey Lodge, which has a master bedroom with an ensuite bathroom, a twin room with an ensuite shower room and then an open plan living, dining and kitchen space. What I love about the Ramsey Lodge is that it is ‘upside down living’. The bedrooms are downstairs and the living, dining and kitchen area is upstairs, which means you get wonderful views from the windows in the main space, where you spend most of your time.

On Tuesday the weather was crazy, we had fog, sunshine and even a bit of snow! I spent the day resting and working in the lodge whilst my husband and daughter went to the Blue Lagoon – the swim tickets are included with your stay which is a lovely bonus. On their way back from the Blue Lagoon they stopped at the Adventure Centre. They had fun playing in the play area and on the bouncy castle, and they also picked up my daughter’s all important Elf Passport for her trip to Elftopia which was scheduled for the Wednesday evening. We also had a rather handsome visitor who sat on our picnic table for ages and even posed for some photos!

When they got back we had tea and headed out to watch the Christmas lights being switched on in the village, which was lots of fun and the village looked beautiful when it was all lit up, both the trees and the buildings. There were so many Christmas activities available during our stay and I wish we had had more time to experience them all.

On Wednesday morning we woke to sunshine, which was really lucky as we planned to go to Tenby that day to go to the beach.  I love that there are so many beautiful beaches so close to Bluestone. You can read all about our day out in Tenby here.

We headed back to Bluestone ready for our Kingdom of the Elves experience which started at 4pm, it was magical! We all loved every minute of it. Kingdom of the Elves tickets are included in your stay when you stay at Bluestone between certain dates, so it’s worth checking out for Christmas 2018! You can see my review of our Kingdom of the Elves experience here.

On Thursday we had to cancel our plans and have a lazy day, as my daughter was feeling under the weather, she had a nap for the first time in over a year! So we took it really easy and then at tea time headed out to the Farmhouse Grill for a meal as my daughter seemed better after her nap. The food at the Farmhouse Grill was amazing, just as it was the first time we visited the restaurant. Burgers, Hot Dogs and Steak were on the menu for us, along with a lot of ice cream!

On Friday morning we packed everything up and checked out just before 10am and then headed home from what was a truly amazing holiday. I am already missing the view from the kitchen window!

We were invited to stay at Bluestone, Wales for a Midweek Break free of charge, however all opinions and words are my own.
