Hello Bookworms! I have a special set of All About Books answers for you this week, it’s the lovely Trish. I am so happy that Trish wanted to take part, as I chat to her over on Twitter and she is one of the most positive people and her tweets always make me smile!
I will hand you straight over to Trish now.
Hello lovelies, my names Trish! I’m a creative, free spirit that loves life! If life created us all by mould, I’m convinced life didn’t break the mould with me, life just poured me straight into the earth & up I popped a bright, vivacious sunflower! I’m big on loving unconditionally, kindness & positivity!
Which book(s) are you currently reading?
Not currently reading anything, I can’t seem to draw my eyes away from social media!
What was the last book you read? And what did you think of it?
The last book I read was The Hunger Games Series by Suzanne Collins. I love Katniss as a character, her quiet depth & vulnerable strength! It was exceptionally written, it made me hold my breath, cry and shout in outrage!
What book is next on your “to be read” list?
I’m not sure, I plan on going on a great book hunt soon! Looking for something new to capture my imagination!
What is your favourite genre to read?
My favourite genres are adventure, fantasy and young adult horror & dystopian books! I love stories with mystery, dragons, other worlds! With deep, quirky, colourful characters and underdogs fighting for love, justice and winning against all odds! I love books with courage and heart!
What genre do you tend to avoid?
Without a doubt biographies, I love books that capture my imagination, long adventures, books that are addictive that I can’t leave alone!
I know this one is a tricky one, but what is your favourite book or series of books?
Sorry, but you know exactly what I’m going to say! The Harry Potter series without a doubt. I read them as an adult, they touched and connected with me at a deep level that changed part of my psyche. I’ve never connected with a book series so powerfully! To be transported to a different world that runs alongside our own was awesome! They really captured my imagination and my heart!
Who is your favourite author? Or authors if you simply can’t choose one (It is a bit of a mean question)
Oh how mean you are! Just kidding! If I had to pick an author ~ J. R. R. Tolkien! He set the stage for high fantasy and epic adventure! I can’t believe The Hobbit etc. is so old! Reading it you would think it was a modern book. This was a man far ahead of his time! A genius!
What is your favourite book from your childhood?
My favourite book from childhood was a book about a moon fairy or sprite. I sadly don’t know the name of it. I had a look online & researched if from the early late 1980’s/early 1990s but I have been unable to trace it. The book was beautiful and set at night, I remember it filling me with wonder! It was an enchanting little book that captured a little girls heart!
If you have children, which books can’t you wait to read to them?
Not applicable, but I was as a nursery teacher, so lot’s of experience with children. If I had to read a book to children I would pick a book called The Last Vampire by Willis HalI. It was a book that was read to me in primary school. It captured my imagination and is also very funny. I couldn’t wait until story time for this one! The wolf on the cover, you can see his willy, so you can imagine what I thought of that as a child *giggle!
If you could visit the world of any book, where would you go? Who would you spend time with? And what would you do?
Lord of the Rings, I am convinced I’m really elven so I’d go and spend time with the elves. I can see myself in a floaty dress, eating lettuce and connecting to nature! Wait I already do that! It would be just like being here then haha!
For any Harry Potter Fans, which house do you think you would be sorted in to? (This seems like a kind of random question but I am strangely curious about which house people would be in)
When I did the official quiz I was a Ravenclaw, which doesn’t surprise me as I’m a swotty bot! But actually I think the sorting hat would put me in Gryffindor, I have a big heart & a lot of courage. I also belong to an underdog story myself! I always choose my heart over my head! Yes, this always gets me into a lot of trouble, but life is short & I’m determined to live it well!
Thank you so much to Trish for taking the time to answer my bookish questions, I think that the Sorting Hat would put you in to Gryffindor too! I am so curious about the moon fairy book now, I will have to see if I can find it.
You can find Trish over on Twitter, and I would definitely recommend giving her a follow, she truly is a ray of sunshine and she shares the most wonderful photos of flowers!
