First things first, I am Jenni, I am a bookworm., I have a passion for reading and I am about to start a Masters in Creative Writing, as I love writing too! As I am including more and more book relate content, I thought I would collect it in one place, so if you are looking for something bookish on here it’s a little easier to find.

Books - Me reading in front of my bookshelves

You can see a full list of all of the book reviews I have done in reverse chronological order here, there are various types of books, but I have mainly been reviewing fantasy/sci-fi books which are my favourite to read. I read 67 books last year and I have done a round up with ratings of all of those books, so if you would like to have a look at that list then please do – Books I read (and loved) in 2017. Or if you fancy a look at what I have planned for my 2018 reading then you can check that out in this post, which discusses my 2018 reading goals.

A collection of vampire themed books

I love books which include; magic, vampires, Fae, strong female protagonists, female/female friendships, chaos, randomness and books which feature disabled characters (and way too many more things to list here but you get the ideas). A short list of some of my favourite characters include Luna Lovegood (Harry Potter – JK Rowling) Kaz Brekker (Six of Crows Duology – Leigh Bardugo) Gallowglass (All Soul’s Trilogy – Deb Harkness), Lazlo Strange (Strange the Dreamer – Laini Taylor) Azriel and Rhys (ACOTAR – Sarah J. Maas) Arianna, Florence & Cvareh (Loom Saga – Elise Kova) Oliver & The Devil (The Unearthly – Laura Thalassa) and millions more I will add when I get chance…. it was a bad idea to start this list as it’s going to be never ending.

I try to make sure that my reviews are also put on to Goodreads and Amazon as I always find the reviews on those site helpful. If you fancy a nosy at my book related Instagram the do let me know and I will let you have the @ – I am trying to keep that one a little bit separate from my blog otherwise I fear that books would take over Odd Socks and Lollipops (which might not be a bad thing!)

Harry Potter - Deatheater

I am available for reviews of both fantasy/sci fi books and children’s books, please send me an email if you have a book which you think would be suitable for me to review. My email is, or feel free to contact me on Twitter.  I am also available for sensitivity reads if you have concerns about chronic illness, disability, and various other topics (I don’t want to list them all here as this is supposed to be my happy place), again please email for more information if this is something you would be interested in.

If you fancy a look at my WIP updates then you can see the first update here, and the second one here. I am currently writing a fantasy novel which has been brewing for many years, and I just can’t stop thinking about it. I am currently working on character development and worldbuilding. And writing very very slowly due to my chronic illness which makes writing and typing slow as best and impossible at worst.

Beautiful and Full of Monsters

If you want to have a look at the children’s book reviews I have done them please head over to this page where you can see all of the reviews I have done of children’s books in reverse chronological order.

If you want to know anything else book related – such as will I ever burn any of the bookish candles I collect…or exactly how much I love my subscription to Fairyloot… or if I will ever reach the end of my TBR list… or do my daughter and I really NEED any more books (this is a trick question because the answer is yes!!) then please do get in touch, as you can probably tell I could talk about books all day long!
