November has been a really busy month for us. I haven’t done nearly as much reading as I would like, both to Boo and for myself. But I am sure that is going to change come the first of December when Boo starts her Book Advent Calendar! I have also been buying even more books for Boo for her birthday and Christmas! Oops! But I digress, here are the books we’ve read in November.

Boo has really started to look out for letters and can recognise them and she loves reading the letters out in words. *My First Gruffalo: Who Lives Here? is perfect for that. We read it a lot last month too and we still love it now! The letters are big and bold and Boo loves lifting the flap and spelling out ‘O-W-L’. It’s a real change from even just a few weeks ago when she enjoyed being read to and looking at the pictures. Now she is pointing out her favourite letters and she really loves ? and !. She pronounces ‘exclamation mark’ as ex-clam-she-on mark which is so cute.
Early this month, She loved reading Message in a Bottle – you can see our full review (and discount code) here. Though I have secretly hidden it, so it can be for her Book Advent for her birthday as it’s such a special book I couldn’t resist. I can’t recommend this book enough. It’s wonderful and something extra special.
We have also been reading *Gordon’s Great Escape – a wonderful bright book filled with the adventures of a lovely red balloon. Boo loves the excitement in this book and the illustrations. It’s funny and fab to read and of course it has a lovely happy ending. There are several danger points when you think Gordon might get popped and I did worry that Boo might get a bit upset. But I needn’t of worried – she loves it!
Boo bought herself *When Sarah Met Duck with some of the money from her money box, when we were shopping in Oxford. I love that Boo chose to buy herself a book with her money. It’s a cute little board book which explains how Sarah and Duck from the cartoon met. It’s lovely that they met on a snowy day – so it feels very Christmassy. Boo insists that the shop shown is a Christmas shop – and not as my husband tried to explain The Bread Shop with it’s Christmas decorations up.
I fear my paragraph for this month it going to be a bit lacking. I am still half way through reading a lot of books. In fact I don’t think I have finished any books this month. I am currently reading – *The Girl with all the Gifts, *Hollow City, *Spinward Fringe, *A Darker Shade of Magic. And who knows what else – I am losing track!
I did however get a few lovely books for my birthday including *Universal: A guide to the Cosmos by Brian Cox and Jeff Forshaw which looks like it’s going to be a really interesting read. I also received *The Vorrh by Brian Catling and *Alice and *Red Queen by Christina Henry and I can’t wait to get started on them though I should probably wait until I am done with all the others!
My husband, however, has managed to do lots of reading this month. He’s finished *The Road To Jerusalem and has also read the second and third books in the series. He has also read *Divergent and is currently reading *Spinward Fringe: Origins for the second time. He is also reading The Wheel of Time series – which starts with *The Eye of the World.
Like the sound of these books? Why not pin this for later?
