If there is one thing I love more than books, it’s Christmassy books – I have been creating Boo’s Book Advent Calendar over the last several months and it’s finally finished.  It’s comprised of mainly Christmas and Winter themed books this year, and when I was asked if I would like to review a Buzzy Friends Book I was very happy when Boo chose A Buzzy White Christmas

A Buzzy White Christmas - Children's Book Review

A Buzzy White Christmas is one of the books in the series of books called Buzzy Friends, the books were created by Michael Walter to keep his granddaughter Alice entertained and they follow the adventures of the four Buzzy Friends; Harty – a hedgehog, Treacle – a kitten, Galanda – a goose and Officer Buzzle who is a bee.

The books are written in rhyme and A Buzzy White Christmas kept Boo engaged throughout. I love that there is a mention about the Christmas Nativity Story as well as Santa, and also that the story focuses on the friends wishing for a white Christmas and having a wonderful day together.

The story flows nicely and the rhyming feels really natural and easy to read. The font is fairly large and easy to read which makes it a great story to read at bedtime in lower light.

The illustrations are bright and bold and Boo loves looking at them. She has asked for A Buzzy White Christmas to be read to her lots when it arrived. Though I have recently hidden it so that it can be part of her Book Advent Calendar – in my recent post you can read the full list of books which make up Boo’s Book Advent Calendar for this year.

A Buzzy White Christmas - Boo reading

I think A Buzzy White Christmas tells a wonderful story and it’s perfect for young children, There are other stories in the Buzzy Friends series which I am sure Boo would love too; Harty Hedgehog and his Buzzy Friends, A Buzzy Seaside Holiday and A Buzzy Birthday Party – Treacle’s Birthday Treat.

At the end of the book there is the Buzzy Code which is a lovely, rhyming reminder of how children can be kind to others and have lots of fun I love the lines  “Remember that no one gets everything right, Be honest and truthful, kind and polite.” The whole Buzzy Code is just lovely and makes a wonderful ending to the book.

Buzzy Friends books can be ordered from the Buzzy Friends website and they are priced at £6.99.

We were sent a copy of A Buzzy White Christmas free of charge, however all opinions and words are my own.
