We have big changes happening in September, my daughter starts big school and she is so excited! I know that the move from nursery to big school is probably going to be a bit of a shock for all of us. My daughter has only attended nursery for afternoons so this not only means a change of classroom and teachers but also the amount of time she is away from home.
We are making the most of the summer, not only to have lots of fun but to also try to prepare and make this shift a little easier. So when Bigjigs Toys got in touch and asked if we would like to take a look at something from their Education range. I said yes please!
I chose the Wooden Games Compendium, as I thought that it would be ideal to help prepare my daughter for sharing, taking turns as well as counting skills. My daughter is an only child, so sharing and taking turns with other children is something which she, currently, does not get too much practice at, at home.
The Wooden Games Compendium is fantastic, it comes with four canvas drawstring bags to keep each set of game pieces in. The games included are Snakes and Ladders, Draughts, Tic Tac Toe and Tiddly Winks.
The Snakes and Ladders Game Board is my favourite as lots of the square have the cutest illustration from classic fairy tales. My daughter and I love playing Snakes and Ladders and since we have been playing it regularly my daughter has become better at losing and also at taking turns.
Both my daughter and I love the Tic Tac Toe – the large wooden game pieces are fantastic. The whole Wooden Games Compendium from Bigjigs Toys is incredible quality, from the illustrated game board for Snakes and Ladders to the game pieces and their drawstring canvas bags.
There are so many skills which my daughter is going to learn during her first year of school and it’s great that we can do a little bit of preparation, which is lots of fun, over the summer. The Wooden Games Compendium is also portable with it’s own handle, which makes it the perfect travel companion for our summer adventures too.
As well as sending us the Wooden Games Compendium we were also sent the Reception Words – Write and Spell, which is great for practicing those first letters and words. The wipe clean pages mean that they can practice again and again!
We are having a wonderful summer filled with lots of fun and games and we are all excited to see what September brings!
We were sent a Wooden Games Compendium and Reception Words – Write and Spell free of charge, all opinions and words are my own.
