We have a lot of family up in the north of England (and I used to live up there and miss it so much!) and we spend a lot of time up there. As well as visiting relatives we also like to get out and about and enjoy time as a family. So, I have created this list of things we love doing or things that we have on our list. Here are seven fab things to do in the North East of England.
There are 4 of these dotted about about the UK, Devon, Durham, Kent and Yorkshire. We are visiting the Diggerland Yorkshire park later this month and I know that the Durham one will be amazing too! I will be sharing my thoughts on our trip so do check back. I really love the sound of this and I know we are going to have such fun.
The Life Science Centre, Newcastle
This sounds like the most amazing place my daughter is really interested in all things science and space so I know this would be a hit. The Life Science Centre has a current exhibition about robots which sounds incredibly interesting, there is also offering tickets at a discount right now.
Beamish Open Air Museum, Beamish
I loved visiting Beamish when I was younger, it was incredible and both my brother and I had school trips there. I would love to be able to take my daughter when she is a little older and I imagine she would find it just as amazing as I did. There is so much to see and do there and I would love to see how it has changed over the years.
Durham Cathedral, Durham
Growing up in Durham was so amazing, and I loved living there. We actually had our school Christmas Carol Services in Durham Cathedral. It’s such an incredible place, so beautiful. It’s also right in the centre of Durham and I would love to go and see how the place I spend my secondary school years has changed.
Angel of the North, Gatehead
I would be totally remiss if I didn’t include The Angel of the North on my list. It’s such an iconic statue and even the photos of it really not do it justice. It really is the most incredible sight.
High Force Waterfall, Forest in Teesdale
As a family, we love nothing more than getting out and about and exploring. High Force Waterfall is such a beautiful place, we used to visit there when I was younger as a family and I would love to take my daughter and my husband there. It really is something special and I would definitely recommend a visit.
Hadrian’s Wall and Housesteads Fort
I went to Hadrian’s Wall on a school trip when I studying Latin and I had the most amazing time, our whole class did (all 12 of us!) It’s such an interesting place and I would really love to go back. There is so much to learn and I know that my husband would be really interested in all of the history.
